I want to get an iPhone this month but my contract won’t be up until December.. How do I get an iPhone without having to pay a lot extra because my contract isn’t up?

I have AT&T and i was thinking of getting the iPhone because this week my contract is up for my old phone. The iPhone is normally like 400-500 dollars, but now that im upgrading my phone its a different price. What would be the price now that my phone is going to be upgraded?
